Missionaries of Mary Immaculate (MMI)
The Society of Missionaries of Mary Immaculate, a Society of apostolic life of priests was founded by Rev Fr Dr J.E Arulraj OMI along with the sisters of Daughters of Mary Immaculate in the year 1998 in the Archdiocese of Campo Grande, Brazil. After achieving the task of initiating young women in the service of God, the need was felt to induct young men also into a similar mission.
It was the inspiration that came through the Archbishop of Campo Grande Rev Dr Emiritus Dom VitorioPavanello SDB that made the founder to initiate the process. The DMI Sisters not only financially supported the congregation but also stood along with them. Running parishes has never received priority in our thought. The missionary idea of MMI is to take up large independent, difficult are of the world and create regions and dioceses through holistic, human and evangelical development.
Following the spirit of DMI Sisters, the MMI fathers also serve towards the upliftment for the poor and the capacity building of the marginalised through Higher Technical Institutions both in abroad and India. The vision and objectives of MMI relate closely with those of DMI. In times of disaster, they toil shoulder-to-shoulder with the DMI Sisters in providing relief to the victims in the affected areas. Now, the MMIs are serving in different parts of the World such as the United States of America, Brazil, Germany, France, Italy, Vatican City, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Central African Republic, India and Papua New Guinea.
